I was creating a search template in a new desktop. I found text search did not return any results no matter how I tried different search criteria. The result is always blank. According to IBM Knowledge Center, Text Search is enabled in repository level. With the same repository, the Text Search works fine in another desktop I built a couple of years ago. I do not know why the Text Search works in one desktop, but does not work with another one. I really did not see there was a way for me to configure Text Search in desktop level. I do not know what I was missing to enable Text Search in my new desktop.

I agree with you that there is no settings on desktop level for Text Search. You can find your support engineer and raise a support ticket for this.

I figured out what the cause was. To make Text Search work, you have to make sure the document class you added has CBR enabled. It will index class for content search. In my case, I did not turn CBR on when creating new document class. My new search template is searching in that class. So I fixed it and now Text Search works in my new desktop.
