How to deal with sub-optimal sample size for Chi Square

  • 1.  How to deal with sub-optimal sample size for Chi Square

I am presently conducting my analysis using Chi square test, and the conditions are violated because the number of participants is fewer than required. I am not able to get more people. Please how do I go forward because the number of cells having expected count less than 5 in cross-tabulation is more than 20%, and 100% for some variables?

If you have the Exact Tests option, you can get Monte Carlo or exact results for the chi squared in CROSSTABS

Thank you. I don't have Exact and will have to do something about it if that is the way out. Appreciate.
