Im interested in the IBM Zpdt personal program. It says to qualify I need to setup a "partner profile". Where do I do this?

    Hello B K.

Your company need to be an IBM partner.

You need to contact the person in your company who can identify you in the IBM Partner Portal.

    Hi BK,

Guillaume is  correct. You'll need to join IBM Partner Plus for access to zPDT.

"Partner profile created in the ISV Ecosystem User Group" refers to actually joining the group, which you're already done.  But you do need to be part of Partner Plus, as well.

I think there is a terminology issue here.  If I remember correctly there has never been a "zPDT Personal Edition."  There (once?) was a "zD&T Personal Edition" (branding matters).  zPDT (now ISV zPDT) is an offering for business partners (members of the IBM Partner Plus program) and zD&T is for customers.  The underlying technology (zPDT) for the offerings is essentially similar, with different, technical restrictions based on license type.  So...ISV zPDT is for ISVs (and is distributed by ITC), ZD&T Personal Edition is for "hobbyists", ZD&T Enterprise is for customers not needing Sysplex for dev/test, and ZD&T Parallel Sysplex® for those that do.

@Lionel Dyck @Lionel Dyck was involved with this and is much more familiar with what appears to be the demise of the Personal Edition (even though it is still in the doc).

    Hello, All.  Quick clarification:

The ISV zPDT offering is only available to qualifying Independent Software Vendors enrolled in the IBM Z On-premises Development (zOPD) Program.  ISVs must be developing commercially available products for the IBM Z platform to qualify for zOPD Program membership.  There is no "personal edition" of this offering.   ISV zPDT licenses are distributed by IBM's OEM vendor ITC, but IBM authorizes each sale and renewal prior to ITC's fulfillment process to ensure the ISV qualifies for the license.  Interested ISVs can learn more about the zOPD Program on our program website at https://zopd.dfw.ibm.com/ or navigate to https://zopd.dfw.ibm.com/apply/ to submit an application to join the program.

Feel free to contact our program team at zOPD@ibm.com if you have any questions about program requirements or the ISV zPDT licensing process.

    Dear B K,

    On ZD&T, see ZD&T overview

    Ibm remove preview
    ZD&T overview
IBM Z Development and Test Environment (ZD&T) runs a z/OS distribution on a personal computer or workstation Linux environment. It creates an environment for mainframe application demonstration, development, testing, and employee education without Z mainframe hardware. It enables z/OS, middleware, and other z/OS software to run on Intel and other compatible computers, and emulates z/Architecture with virtual I/O and devices.

But IBM has a great alternative for this:

IBM Wazi aaS also provides experimental capabilities to enable customers to get started with exploring IBM Cloud's Continuous Delivery offering through Integration templates based on DevSecOps practices.  The service offers a unified user experience for z/OS and cloud native applications in the IBM Cloud to create and use toolchains, with security and auditability at its core.
