  • 1.  how to copy report keeping versions, schedules, output versions, permissions

    Posted Fri December 04, 2020 05:23 AM
    Hi,

I face the following issue: I copied a report to another folder to perform some changes on it. Since I performed all the required changes I overwrited the initial report by the following methods: Saves as, copy, move. In all cases the result was that initial report properties (permissions, schedules etc) were overwrited.
Is there any way that I might copy the changed report to original without loosing initial report's properties?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dear all,
Thank you for your answers. I tried the one Kiran suggested and it worked with the following limitations:
Although schedule and permissions do not change on copy, all properties in Report tab are not preserved.

    Kind Regards,

I'd like also to notice that I initially set, by mistake, Portal.updateTargetObjectWhenOverwrite to true although my environment is Cognos  11.1.4 and the results were these I described in my previous reply. When I set the proper setting ContentApps.updateTargetObjectWhenOverwrite to true and set Portal.updateTargetObjectWhenOverwrite to false the old behavior (target replaced by source) returned. Do you have any idea what might happened?

As of 11.1.x ConfigSetter was replaced with Manage > Configuration > System > Advanced Settings but you have to know what the key and value options are, or were. In addition to what the community link above talks about there was also a deep copy option that I think is the answer to Pantelis' actual question. Unfortunately each of these settings effects copies for all or none, not individually. I can't seem to find the old community post for deep copy.

    Hi Pantelis,

If you have second Cognos environment (test, development) then you could use a deployment.
Just create an export deployment and make sure to set all the check marks regarding include report output versions, include run history and include schedules.
When you import the deployment you are now able to set the include check marks.
