    FYI... Chapter 28 of the WAS v8.5 Admin/Config Redbook cover setting up session management in in WAS.  Session management in WAS v8.5 is mostly the same in older versions of WAS (v6.1 through v8.x).  TheWebSphere plugin running on a webserver is responsbile for reading the JSession ID and directing requests with affinity to the appropriate application server.
