How is the p-value in bootstrapping computed

  • 1.  How is the p-value in bootstrapping computed

In Amos, when bootstrapping confidence intervals are requested, in addition to the intervals, p-values are also presented. How were they computed? I checked and confirmed that the p-values for BC CI and percentile CI are different, and also different from that in the regression table. Therefore, I believe the p-values are indeed computed from the bootstrapping results. However, I cannot find the documentation on the methods used to compute them.

    Hi

By searching the Online Help for "ConfidencePC" and "ConfidenceBC" it seems the reference for these calculatiojns will come from "Efron, B. (1982). The jackknife, the bootstrap and other resampling plans. (SIAM Monograph #38) Philadelphia: Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics."

See Examples 19-21 in the Amos User Guide (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/SSLVMB_28.0.0/pdf/amos/IBM_SPSS_Amos_User_Guide.pdf) for examples and discussion of bootstrapping in Amos.

    I hope this helps,
