  • 1.  How can I remove a Thread?

    Posted Thu November 25, 2021 02:06 AM
Can someone help me with the question above?

Of course I am talking about a Thread of myself because I understand that it is impossible to remove a Thread from somebody else as a none admin.

I am able to edit my own Thread via the pulldown menu of the [Reply]-button but I can not find the delete or remove function.

Thanks in advance for you reply/help.

    Hi Menno.

I thought you should be able to delete one that you created but maybe that only works for blogs and articles, and not discussions.

@Rhonda Keller @Lauren Pagan  can you help Menno?

    Thanks,
    Deb

First congratulations @Menno Wittebol on your ETBMA certification!!!
Secondly, yes you should be able to delete something you've created. Can you send me a link to what you're trying to delete and I'll investigate.

Hi @Rhonda Keller, thank you for the congratulations! Happy that I completed the next level and be an Elite TBMA :)

The Thread I like to remove is already removed by @Logan Brown because I sent the request by email to the University too. It was a sub post in an other space (not Apptio for All) of my ETBMA Case Study which confusing the likes calculation. So that is settled with the removal by Logan.

To follow-up the original question, I share the screenshot below of e.g. this Thread with the options I have on my first post and the [Reply]-button pulldown menu. You can see that the option Delete is missing. I also can find somewhere else an option to delete the Thread. Hopefully I am not blind...

Ahh I see @Menno Wittebol thank you.

I just investigated this with our platform provider and community members cannot delete objects just the contents within.

So it's not the best solution, but for anything that you create and want to delete, you have to choose edit and erase the contents. In this case the object (the comment, blog, etc) will remain but If you erase your content and replace it with a tag for me or Lauren, we'll be happy to come in and clean it up.

Thank you @Rhonda Keller for the information and instructions. However it is a work around... A better solution -to prevent (extra) work for Apptio staff and delays in the process- would be the creation/introduction of the required permission/option to delete your own post(s). Think LEAN :)

Yes, @Menno Wittebol. Empowering users: the eternal dilemma.
On a related topic, I still feel that SSR/Apptio BI gives me more work than it takes away. Go figure.

LOL @Guillermo Cuadrado you're killing me. I'm confident you'll see the Apptio BI functionality grow over time, until then you're reporting skills in TBM Studio should keep paying off :-)

Agreed :-) When I was investigating your question on the site for our community platform (higherlogic) I found an RFE requesting the same and gave it an upvote. I also just tested the delete on this post and it leaves that ominous "this post was removed" message.

Oh actually, looks like I chose "remove" instead of "delete." Remove is the only one that leaves that awkward... this person doesn't want you to know who they are or what they posted but they want you to know someone posted something and deleted it" message ;-)
