  • 1.  Host host_nqn in AIX LPAR through NPIV

    Posted Mon October 10, 2022 11:40 AM
    Hi,

We have just make one configuration- Assgined the IBM HBA-EN1A  to VIOS (Latest Version) and then configured the NPIV and assgined to 4 AIX LPAR. But we are not able see the Host NQN from the AIX LPAR. Is there any restriction?

Could you please help me in getting the answer for below queries

    1. Is NVMe is supported by AIX LPAR through NPIV mode configuration
    2. How host_nqn will be visible from AIX LPAR if I mapped the IBM EN1A HBA to VIOS LPAR and configured the AIX LPAR through NPIV

    Regards

I’ve not heard the term NPN before… is this the new name for the WW(p)N?

to obtain the WW(p)N for the NPIV interfaces.. check for FCS devices (lscfg | grep fcs)
then choose one… and lookout VPD data.. (lscfg -vl fcs# )

Network address should show up.. If you have the mapping in place between the LPAR and the card on the VIO server.

Note there are two addresses… even/odd pairs, that come into place if you ever plan to LPM the LPAR.
you’ll rarely see the ODD WW(p)N

I had mentioned about Host NQN uniquely identifies the NVMe Host, NPN. This is mainly used for nvme setup.
