We have the following setup, 1 HMC is version 6 release 1.1 and is connected to the primary port of the SP, recently we performed a clean install of a second HMC, with version 7, Release 3.1 and that got connected to the secondary port of the SP. All works fine, we performed an update with SP1 of the second HMC, and after that we performed update to release 3.2 with the 2 zip files from IBMs site. Today we just noticed that clicking on properties on some of the lpars gives error:

An internal error has occurred. If possible an error log has been taken and if configured, the problem has been automatically reported.

If the problem continues, please contact your service representative.

On some other lpars it doesen't and it just opens the windows with the properties. Also when we try to modify the profile on the same lpars that gave me the error, it's not opening the windows to modify those, and on those that the properties for the running lpar work it opens the window to modify the profile. This is very strange, I didn't noticed that behaviour before with version 3.1 SP1. Anyone has any idea what this could be, is it that we have diff versions of HMCs running on the same SP? The version of the FW for the boxes is 240_320, and they are 9117-570, and few 55A. Thanks for the tips.

Here is what I did (since this is still not in production) with the HMC, I downgraded it to release 3.1 + SP1, and we encountered none of the problems, with the lpars and the profiles. So I guess this is an issue with 3.2, guess I will stick with 3.1 for the time being.

IBM told me that even during migration from HMC 6.x to 7.x the second HMC running 6.x should be down. Then after successful migration of the first HMC, first HMC should be shutdown and migration of second HMC should be done.

After the downgrade to 3.1 everything works fine, no matter if I have both HMCs plugged in or just the new one. I will be upgrading the 6.x soon, but will unplug it from the hub that is connected to the SPs, just to be on the safe side.

we just upgrade today our HMC 6.1.2 to 7.3.2 and we've same problem : we're unable to open property window for our partition. This problem never occurred with version 6.1.0 and 6.1.2. No other solution than going backward or waiting for a new version.
    Best regards
