  • 1.  Hidden dimensions in FM package and dashboards

    Hello friends.
    When we hide eg. a dimension in the package definition of a framework manager package, dashboards aren't able to read/see them.

    We want to be able to hide away dimensions or fields if they become un-relevant, without braking any reports or dashboards using the hidden elements, but it doesn't work, as illustrated in the screenshot below. Does anyone know if this is a "feature" or a bug? If it is a feature, any suggestion on how to remove/hide elements from the packages without braking dashboards? Hiding elements works fine in reports, but not dashboards.

    Sandeep Dhirad – the hide feature does work when you work with Report, however this strategy fails when you try to do with Data modules, Dashboard and Stories.  It is a known feature (or a bug, however you want to see it).

     

    I currently do not know of a workaround.  This is the same reason why we have to set a query package to at least "Run" (Read, Execute, Traverse) access in order for someone to run a Dashboard.

    Hi Sandeep and Peter, 
    IBM announced to have it fixed by APAR PH17308 - HIDDEN ELEMENTS WILL CAUSE VISUALIZATION ERROR IN DASHBOARD in IBM Cognos Analytics 11.1.7. I discovered that unfortunately this works only for hidden level-attributes inside dimensions but not for hidden dimensions or namespaces inside packages. I created a case questioning this and an APAR regarding this is currently "in development review".

    Per my understanding, PH17308 says that referring hidden elements should work in 11.1.7.
    Will create a case, and see what they say.
