    This may be a redundant question. I want to know how I can have Datacap automatically create a Case Workflow in BAW. I have it sending a PDF to FileNet, Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

    Datacap does not have a built in action to create a case in Case Manager.  This is a typical pattern, and how you work with it is to configure Case Manager to have that document type that Datacap adds into FileNet and create the case itself.  I forget exactly which screen, but I think it is on the Case Type.  There is a check box that you select that will allow cases to be created if a document is added into the system.  (Technicall Case Manger creates a subscription service based off the document added event to handle all this). 

    That is default and most accepted way to do what you are asking.

    Hello Jeff,

    While you can start a new case instance with a service call out of Datacap, I agree with Mike Prentice. There are facilities in FileNet and Case Manager to do this for you. The section that Mike is referring to int he case definition is "Starting document class", which in the first screen of the Case Type definition in Case Builder:

    The screenshot above shows the document classes that my case mgr environment is aware of.

    With these adjustments, I can get the document to show up in the appropriate object store and folder in FileNet, but it does not create a Case.

    Take a look at section 11.2 in the Case Manager Redbook: https://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/pdfs/sg247929.pdf

    I believe these same events are available within BAW Case.

    You should be able to launch the case using a CPE create event....the added document would be the initiating attachment on the launch step.

    Problem solved..In order for a new Case to be created, it seems it matters where you build the UI. If built under "Views" it does not create a new case...
