Memory isn't the issue.  What I'm trying to get to is how many cores are needed. 

Looking for anyone that has experience and/or has an existing environment that might give me an idea if I'm on the right track.  I have a customer that wants to keep costs down (obviously) and I'm wondering if we can run leaner than what has been proposed.  My goal is to try and get the PVU's down...

Current software and hardware specs -

WAS ND running on a virtualized envrinoment
Back end consists of -
IBM BladeCenter HS22v blade group which contains 2 processors ( Intel Xeon X5690 processors - 6 cores per processor)

Proposed environment specs...

Virtual server 1 - Development Environment
WAS ND
Profile 1 - 7 servers
Profile 2 - 9 servers
Cores allocated to this VM - 3

Virtual server 2 - Test Environment
WAS ND
Profile 1 - 1 server
Profile 2 - 1 server
Cores allocated to this VM - 2

Virtual server 3 - Prod Environment
WAS ND
Profile 1 - 1 server
Profile 2 - 1 server
Cores allocated to this VM - 2

Thanks for the quick reply.  Development has 16 application servers running versus just 2 in both Test and Prod.  Assuming that's the primary reason.

Any chance you have access to some documentation around reviewing the CPU usage for a running system?  I haven't used the built-in Tivoli Performance Viewer much so a dumbed down review of actually using it would be helpful.

    In adition to your sugestion of use TPV I suggest to use Health Center or WebSphere application Server Performance Tunnign Toolkit that you can found in ISA support.

    The utilities are very ease to install/configure but if you have some questions tell me.
