  • 1.  Getting started with IBM Technology Training

    Posted Fri May 22, 2020 09:35 AM
    Good day to everyone,

I hope this post finds everyone doing well.

I am a complete novice to Mainframe technology and would appreciate any and all assistance to begin my learning.  (If I have posted to the incorrect thread, please let me know)

While I have a basic idea of where I would like to start, at the moment I am completely distracted by any and all offerings within the IBM training sphere.

My thoughts at this point in time are that I like the idea of starting with the base OS, day to day operation, scripting and coding (in cobol?). After developing a solid foundation and experience, I am looking to evolve (at this point in time) into design and system architecture. However, I am very interested in investigating any and all options for skills development.

I would really appreciate some assistance in where to begin from a training perspective (available courses and the best training structure for my learning).

Many thanks for any and all assistance.

    Hi Dwayne,

    Hope you are doing well.

    • To get started with mainframe, Mater the Maiframe provides a series of trainings and you can also earn digital badges from there.
    • To learn more about COBOL, COBOL Developers is a new tech hub and appeals to developers of all experience levels.

    Enjoy your learning!
