The other thing to check if you have right version of java configured on the VM. simply trying java -version should give you the version.
echo $JAVA_HOME will give you the java location.
I had a problem with the agent not even starting and it was because my VM had jre1.8.0_45. The issue goit fixed when I got jre1.8.0_144 and I updated the JAVA_HOME variable to point to the new location.
Of course I may have an older Datalink Manager, Agent and Engine. You may want to check with support on which version is compatible with your datalink version.
