    Hello all,

    I'm trying to set up an automated backup for the Virtual Appliance SDS 8.0.1. I scheduled a daily backup using the WebAdmin Tool and download the files via the REST-API. In order to synchronize the process of creating the backup and downloading the files to a backup server, it would be useful to get the status of backup (scheduled<g class="gr_ gr_831 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear Style replaceWithoutSep" id="831" data-gr-id="831">,running</g> <g class="gr_ gr_851 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="851" data-gr-id="851">etc</g>..). Unfortunately, the status is only shown in the UI of the WebAdmin Tool but not in the LDAP itself. I found in the 6.4 Version that there was <g class="gr_ gr_1090 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear Grammar multiReplace" id="1090" data-gr-id="1090">a entry</g> cn=backup,cn=monitor. I can't find that entry in the SDS 8.0.1. I only found cn=RDBM Backup,cn=configuration(Image below). But it doesn't contain the status of <g class="gr_ gr_1979 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="1979" data-gr-id="1979">backup</g>.

    Does anyone have an idea where the Web Admin Tool gets the status of the backup and where I could retrieve it from and could point me in the right direction?

    I took a quick search on cn=monitor - but according to the formal 6.4 doc there is no cn=backup,cn=monitor unless I have missed it : https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSVJJU_6.4.0/com.ibm.IBMDS.doc_6.4/ds_ag_srv_adm_server_cn_monitor.html
    I have also looked in a ISDS 6.3 systm - nothing there either.
    I did some searching on Google - and a hint is maybe here : https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSVJJU_6.4.0/com.ibm.IBMDS.doc_6.4/ds_ag_srv_adm_config_run_dir_backup_cmd.html
    It may be that the WebAdmin tool uses the idsldapexop command with some undocumented -action switch - but that is only a guess.
    I remember that I traced the WebAdmin tool once by putting on trace in a full WAS - this is a somewhat tedious thing to do - but fun if you have the time - there may be better ways of tracing it I have to say...

    I hope one of our SDS gurus can enlighten us...

    Hi,
    Please refer to https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/backup-and-restore-procedures
    Click on "Backup & Restore using Client Tools" tab. I have discussed several command line methods in there. 

    To know the the status of a backup, we need to run the ldap search against the admin server port. (step 8)
