  • 1.  GDKUTIL - gdk directory

    Posted 11 days ago
    Hello

When GDKUTIL is starting, it will look after the gdk directory, to find providers and gdkkeyf.json etc.
    Q:
Is there an GDK "exit" where you can get GDKUTIL to search an additional location?
Needs to be on a sysplex wide filesystem zFS
    Thanks

    Note:
CDA services will first examine the user's ~/gdk/providers/ directory for a provider file ending in .json. If it no ~/gdk/providers/ directory is found, then /usr/lpp/dfsms/gdk/providers/ is searched for the provider file.

    Hi Bill,

There is no "exit" that can override the search location for the user's keyfile or provider file to be used. Because of the security requirement that each user have unique credentials to access the object storage, CDA will only look in the current user's home directory to find the gdk/gdkkeyf.json file. On our sysplexes, the user's home directory from the OMVS segment is available from the same path. The MOUNT of the ZFS can specify things like RWSHARE for the user's home ZFS, and there is other magic that ensures that a ZFS is at least readable from other LPARs in the plex.
If you want to have a sysplex-wide default directory for the provider files, we specifically leave the /usr/lpp/dfsms/gdk/providers/ directory empty so that you can have a MOUNT in the BPXPRMxx of a ZFS for that location, that way the system provider files can be shared across the plex.

Would you give me some more details about what you are trying to do, and what is stopping you?

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for the update.
The issue was that we have an OPC OMVS segment with different paths on lpars in our sysplex. I will now merge the filesystems to a new sysplex wide mounted zFS RWShare and we should be good.
