  • 1.  FTP File to a Mainframe, FTP file to thru E-mail/ from the Mainframe

    As the subject says, I hope you get my idea. 

    I am trying to find a resource, at least on beginner level, on how to transfer a file from a JOB thru E-mail(ing) a person.

    Or get a certain file from a local computer and transfer it to the mainframe for processing.

    Johnny I regular upload files from FTP sites to our mainframe using JCL. I can give you a sample if you would like. For getting files to an FTP (or SFTP) site, I usually use a Windows client like Filezilla and Winscp (both free). Hope that helps you out.

    1) Mainframe to Mail
Now there are tools that transform the SYSOUT of jobs into PDF files that can be viewed on an Internet tool.
    But in the old way we use SAS on Mainframe which allows us to transform a SYSOUT into a PDF, Excel file... and send it by Mail.

    2) PC to Mainframe
We use FTP Windows or Unix version. You will need to have a user authorized to upload a file to the Mainframe FTP server.
    There is now a tool like Axway which allows two-way exchanges.
    IBM has developed the Z/OS Connect tool which allows you to directly exchange files.
