    Hello,

Does anybody know if there's any hidden way to do any of the following in dashboards:

    1) Make the filters dependent/cascading - meaning that if I choose, for example, Europe for Continent, I won't see China in the Countries filter anymore?

    2) Make filters and widgets communicate both ways - if I select Europe in filters I will only see Europe related information in widgets but if select some Europe information in widgets, nothing happens in filters. Even more...if I have the continent in filters and I have breakdown by continent in a widget and I select Europe from the widget, I will be able to select Asia in the filter, resulting in "no value" all over the canvas.

    3) Make connections between widgets in multiple tabs as long as the are using the same data source.

If none of them is possible, does anyone know if they're expected features in the near future. I think these are basic things that should be taken care of before any other fancy/eye catching feature.

Thank you & have a nice day!

    Hey Daniel,
Enhancing our filtering experience in dashboards is currently in-flight.  Today there's no way to define directionality between widgets and filters (or filters and filters) which means that you cannot cascade content from one filter to the next.  So that's top of mind for us, but it's only the surface.  Dashboard authors need to be able to drop filter controls directly onto the canvas (a date/calendar picker, or a radio button or checkbox, etc) and be able to style them to match the theme of the dashboard.  Authors should be able to select filter defaults so that they don't need to immediately filter their selection after the dashboard loads.  Authors need to be able to control how active filters are presented within visualizations (we often get asked about clutter associated with the little filter icon, to the point that we created an extension).  The filter 'shelf' is also limiting in that it removes some of the canvas real estate and text gets truncated, so we intend to move that to a side panel.  Lots of great plans in the very near term for enhanced filtering.

We DO often get asked for item 3 as well, so we'll see how we can tackle that.
    Hope that helps!

    Great news Matt,

Pls remember to make use of options "use/display filter item" from fm model when implementing new filter enhancements.

Looking forward to that. Until "this" will be implemented, we have little chance to move QS user forward.

Ralf I always think of you when we're discussing the implementation of 'use vs display' internally.  You're tied to that feature now :)

    Good Morning,

Edit the dashboard.  Select the visualization.  Click the widget icon at the top navigation bar.  On the left of visualization, associate with an existing filter group or create a new one.

    Warm Regards,
    Eli
