  • 1.  FileNet Content Manager - Support for SQL Server 2025

    Posted 06/19/26 07:20 AM

    Hi,

We have a customer who is running FileNet Content Manager. Its database is on a shared SQL Server instance which they are looking to upgrade to SQL Server 2025. When this upgrade takes place, we will upgrade FileNet Content Manager to 5.7.0.

Having consulted the Compatibility Matrix, I can see that FileNet 5.7.0 does not support SQL Server 2025.

    My questions:

    1. Can anyone from IBM tell me when SQL Server 2025 might be supported with FileNet?
    2. Would it be acceptable to run the Object Store database in SQL Server 2025, but in SQL Server 2022 compatibility mode (see screenshot)?

    Thanks in advance!
    Shaun

    Hi Shaun,
I see a single solution Try to achieve the IBM support or your FileNet / IBM P8 consult partner They could ask about a date in the future the MS SQL 2025 will be supported and made a request to have an official answer for your question.
As long as in compatibility matrix is not inserted as supported it means that the IBM P8 software and implementation team
    -  did not test it or
    - they tested but they have problems!!

    Take care
    Dorothea

    Shaun

We have started qualifying SQL Server 2025, but have noticed some significant performance issues....so there is no date currently as to when this support will be available.

Hi Shaun - As to your second question, yes this should work. It's something we did in the past when we got stuck on a 3rd party application that we couldn't upgrade and had SQL 2012 dependencies. We upgraded to SQL 2019 but ran it in 2012 compatibility mode. We never saw any issues and neither FileNet nor the 3rd party app noticed. I cannot speak to IBM's stance on supporting such a setup, though.

    Thanks,

    Peter

Thanks Peter. It's good to know that someone has already tried this successfully, albeit with older versions. We'll probably remain with SQL Server 2022 because we don't know whether the performance issues are caused by SQL Server 2025 or FileNet.
