On both of these servers, file /tmp/zTZ is a text file containing a list of user names, excluding my user name. On the AIX 6.1 server, this file even has my user name as the owner -- that's how I noticed it. On the AIX 5.2 server, the owner is root. Does every AIX server have a file like this? Does anyone know the purpose of this file and why its time stamp changes every time I login?

    I could not find these on our AIX 5.3, 6.1, or 7.1 systems. Suggest that something may have been added to /etc/profile to create this file. Check your own .profile and .kshrc as well those for root.

    On one of our systems many years back, someone had added an entry to /etc/profile so that it ran root's /.kshrc and so certain unwanted characteristics were seen by all users.
