  • 1.  Feature Request – Adjusting Edition Limits

    Posted 03/25/25 12:10 PM

    Hi to all,

as discussed at Techday in Munich, we started a new feature request to adjust the edition limits - hope you are in favour with this?!

Feature Request – Adjusting Edition Limits

With the introduction of IDS 15, storage options within an instance have become virtually unlimited. Fortunately, this has also removed several restrictions that, over the years, led to unnecessary administrative effort across different editions. Additionally, recurring inconsistencies in the licensing terms across recent versions have caused confusion and uncertainty.
While the overall structure of the editions and their key differentiators should remain in place, the following adjustments are necessary-especially in comparison to competing products:

    All Editions:
    • Allow Distributed SQL/NoSQL (important for many small businesses)
    • Allow Partitioning (to address the Partition Page Limit in versions prior to V15 – no longer required for Large Tablesupport in V15)

    Innovator-C Edition:
    • Allow HDR Secondary (commonly used as a test or development system)

    Express Edition:
    • Increase maximum memory from 8 GB to 16 GB

    Workgroup Edition:
    • Increase maximum memory from 32 GB to 128 GB

    Best

Agreed, and also increase the maximum storage for developer edition to, say, 16GB
