  • 1.  Explore New Cloudability Reports in Apptio BI

    Posted Tue November 08, 2022 11:21 AM

A major goal from the end of 2022 into 2023 is to expand our library of content for our Apptio BI users to make it a more well-integrated, useful and seamless experience when reporting and gathering insights, with low switching costs of jumping between products for users of all levels. A piece of this is enabling users, particularly end users, with the proper available content out-of-the-box to ensure they can jump quickly into BI, while administrators can enable their end users and teams within their organization to be successful and get more rapid time-to-value by copying and editing available reports.

With this most recent release, we are focused on our Cloud customers and their organizations to help them do just that.

We are thrilled to announce the addition of 6 Cloudability out-of-the-box reports within Apptio BI, with more on the way coming soon. These reports leverage data from the Cloudability Cost & Usage data source, and now you can explore our enhanced menu of reports with our recently released report navigation experience. You can find these reports on the Reports page and are available for our Cloudability users. As a piece of integrating the Cloudability experience into Apptio BI reporting, these new Cloudability-focused BI reports will help Cloud CoE members, Operations Staff, IT Product and Service Owners, Resource Managers, IT Staff and Leadership to understand how data is consumed within their organization.

Let's explore how below, calling out each report and what they mean for users:

    1) AWS | Services Overview
This Apptio BI Report is specific to Amazon Web Services (AWS). It contains a collection of visualizations to help you understand how each AWS service is consumed within your organization. Each page contains visualizations for a different AWS service. This report will help identify detailed cost and usage for individual AWS services, as well as trends and anomalies in AWS service consumption. For example, if you use X or Y service; how can you best see costs related to it? Or, if you are looking to see EBS snapshots or GP2 vs GP3 volumes, Fargate costs, or details can I see related to S3 buckets.

    2) Review Storage Cost and Usage

We encourage our Cloudability users to explore these newly released reports and let us know your feedback:

We are not CLDY customers, so we don't see those, or any subsequent reports. However, we ingest AWS, GCP and Azure data into CT, so it would be useful having access to that information out of the box. I guess I'd have to do it by hand myself.
