We are driving forward with speed in the coming months to deliver innovation which will help streamline your data analysis and insight-gathering workflows, expand your reporting capabilities, collaborate effectively, and interact with others to share and display the data that matters most in a format that makes sense to your end users.
To kick this off - today we have made significant enhancements when customizing visualization and creating reports, added new date range options, improved copying and sharing functionality in this bundle of 5 BI releases - let's dive in and explore what that means for you as a user. See our Help Center for more information and complete walkthroughs of each feature described below.

Sharing Links for Reports
While BI already supports the sharing reports by granting view or edit access, we have added the ability to share links with people who already have access to the report for ease of sharing directly. In addition, it adds the ability to apply a data version(s) to a link (for example, when sharing an ITP view). The idea behind this functionality is to ensure the users you share your link with will see what you are seeing when it is shared. To learn more about sharing data versions and sharing in general, view our Help Center here.

Copy Visualizations from reports you are permitted to view
Following the release of the ability to copy and move visualizations between reports and report pages, this feature lets users copy visualizations from reports you are permitted to view (i.e. out-of-the-box Apptio BI Reports / reports that are shared with you). For example, if you see a visualization you like created by a user who you are unfamiliar with or do not want to bog down with a request for access, you can use this functionality to create a new visualization or put it in your own format (if you so choose) once it is copied over to a different report or a new report (which can then be placed into an existing or a new page within a report).
This is another way we are helping our users collaborate and build on previous work of their own or their colleagues by duplicating visualizations from reports that address a specific need or question, into your custom reports, without having to build visualizations from scratch. Not only will this help speed up your report creation, but is another way we are making BI a more collaborative, interactive and accessible platform for everyone that can both save you time and get you the answers you need with less hold-ups.
NEW Visualization: Donut Charts
Create Donut Charts, which, like Pie Charts, are a way to display a breakdown of your data in a single structure. The idea is to capture a more modern look and feel when viewing contributions with this display option. To use this feature, select Donut Chart icon from the visualizations list on the visualization edit screen at the top of your visualization creation window.

NEW Visualization: Stacked Area Charts
In Apptio BI, users can take now take advantage of a stacked area chart if you are using Cloudability, Costing, or Planning data sources to compare a variety of metrics and dimensions in one visualization to better display variance. The goal of this visual is to track both the total value for a specified date range as well as the breakdown of that total by groups. Then, when comparing the heights of each segment of the curve, you can get an idea allows you to get a visual display of how each subgroup compares to the other in their contributions to the total.
To add to this - you can select "Stack by %" and "Show chart values" for any stacked visualization type, the values will be displayed as a percent, rather than an integer - helpful for showing the variation of each of several variables simultaneously, as well as their percentage ratio over time.
You can create stacked area charts using the following combinations:
- Dimensions (one), Metrics (at least one), without a time trend
- Dimensions (at least two), Metrics (one), without a time trend
- Dimensions (one), Metrics (at least one), without a time trend and with a Compare To date range
- Dimensions (one), Metrics (at least one), with a time trend and without a Compare To date range
NEW Date Range: Last 180 days (including today)
BI users now have the ability to select last 180 days from custom date range selector. This option is available for Cloudability data sources specifically - and gives you more flexibility to select a highly-requested date range from our menu of options so you can view the past ~6m / half-year quickly without having to select the date range yourself.

Please let us know if you have questions, comments, reactions or once you have tried the features for yourself!
We love to hear your feedback, and encourage you to share which of the above releases, or other BI features and functionality you are either already using to help succeed when reporting across your technology portfolio. In addition, let us know features you are excited to see in the product moving forward.
