Making AIX recognize the new volume size is as simple as chvg -g <vgname>
    No extendvg needed.

rootvg volumes cannot be enlarged, Concurrent Mode VGs have to be varied on in Standard mode -> (man chvg)

do u mean extending vg in hacmp cluster server? would like to confirm my understanding. if we want to extend vg in the cluster server, we are using the hacmp scpoc right? is it the same concept with that one that u said
"Concurrent Mode VGs have to be varied on in Standard mode -> (man chvg"
hope to hear from you. many thanks in advance.

The user might be required to execute varyoffvg and then varyonvg on the volume group for LVM to see the size change on the disks.

A Enhanced Concurrent (EC) VG that is part of an active ressource group will be varied on in EC Mode (active or passive) on the participating nodes -> no chvg -g (at least today). Bring the ressource group down and vary on the VG in Standard mode -> chvg -g works.

if our hacmp using EC mode, we can extend the cluster disc without bring down the cluster (smit hacmp).
correct me if i got wrong understanding.
hope to hear from you. thank you
