The guy in charge of the data centers asked me if a pSeries system will shut itself off in an excessive temp condition. Could someone please let me know the answer to his question? I believe the answer is yes, but I wanted to make sure.

Will they give errors in the AIX error report (errpt)?
Can you set the thresholds? If so is it done in the service processor?
Will the system actually shutdown if it gets above the threshold?

[i]Yes; Excessive heat will be detected by system sensors causing the system to shutdown. The system will provide warnings that there are heat related issues that need to be examined. [/i]

[i]There is not a defined ambient room temperature threshold. Room temperature and system temperature are two different measurements. If the system/server senses there are heat related issues, then the system will shut itself down irregardless of what the room temperature is. [/i]
