    It was explained to me that stop will just kill every process that is currently running, and I’ve caused the “User Aborted Map” many a time, but pause will let the current transaction finish, and not process the next one. ]

    Can anyone confirm?

    IMO, it depends on your shop and processes as to whether you would want to use either. I can see where both methods have their uses.
