New install of Datastage TX on an IBM AIX box. I do a i:b4f5a6a9b1b:b4f5a6a9b1eventserver.sh -start[/b:b4f5a6a9b1][/i:b4f5a6a9b1] on the sever itself and after a few seconds I get the following error:

quote:b4f5a6a9b1An Event server with the name /opt/app/mercator/6.7 has not been configured in the Management console. Remember names are case sensitive[/quote:b4f5a6a9b1]

The "name" it is complaining about is the root directory where the product is installed and is, of course, a very invalid name for a server in the management console.

I have a event server defined in the management console say ACOTXC1 but have the following issues with that infact:

list:b4f5a6a9b1Always get a connection refused when trying to do a "connect" despite having a valid Datastage user defined with "God" rights using the event server admin console.

Get the exact same error listed above when trying i:b4f5a6a9b1b:b4f5a6a9b1eventserver.sh -start ACOTXC1[/b:b4f5a6a9b1][/i:b4f5a6a9b1][/list:u:b4f5a6a9b1]

So my basic question is: b:b4f5a6a9b1How do you start the event server!?![/b:b4f5a6a9b1]

Any insite will be greatly appreciated!

    1) Read the readme and the installation doc
    2) Install product and mod .profile to run "setup" on logon
    3) Read the Event Server Reference Guide
    4) Execute eventserveradmin.sh from an X-Window and define available ports, deployment dir, user access, etc. as per doc. (Suggest "Automatic Startup" be disabled.)
    5) Create a map.
    6) Create a system to run the map and override the Event Server Settings re: map server locn, source/target path, etc., define the target server, and deploy the map/system so that the "msl" gets loaded into the deploy directory defined in (4).
    7) Run eventserver.sh -start (with port number if you have multiple ES's on same server)
    8) Define the server to your Windows based TX Management Console.
    9) Connect to the server.
    10) Start the system.
