  • 1.  Error when installing z/OS connect plugin in IDz

    I am trying to install z/OS Connect EE plugin to IDz 14.2.3. I download the zosconnect_im_repo.zip file from the IBM website. When I try to install it through the IBM Installation Manager, I receive the error message: The installation package 'IBM z/OS Connect EE API toolkit' requires components supplied by other packages. The required components might be supplied by the following installation packages: Package: The IBM z/OS Connect EE API toolkit.

    Has this message been seen before and is there a resolution? Thank you.

    Hi Kyle,

    What version of the z/OS Connect EE plugin are you trying to install?  

    I assume the IBM website that you referenced for downloading was https://ibm.github.io/mainframe-downloads/eclipse-tools.html

    Are you familiar with the Product Versions page?  https://ibm.github.io/mainframe-downloads/product-versions.html

    Have you read this blog? (I realize it is a little outdated, but the concepts still hold true) https://community.ibm.com/community/user/ibmz-and-linuxone/blogs/william-alexander1/2021/05/28/ibm-explorer-for-zos-aqua-happy-5th-anniversary

    Please note that IDz 14.2.x, which was based on Eclipse 4.6 and Java 6, has gone End of Support on 2022-09-30.    The two versions of IDz currently in support are IDz version 15.0.x which is based on Eclipse 4.8 and Java 8, as well as IDz version 16.0.x which is based on Eclipse 4.23 and Java 11.

    I suspect the version of the z/OS Connect EE plugins that you are trying to install were intended for a different level of Eclipse and Java than IDz 14.2.x.

    Thanks Bill, 

    I was using a 14.2.x version of IDz which I think was the issue I was having.  I did upgrade to a 16.0.x version and it looks like I was able to install the Z/OS Connect EE plugin as part of the it.
