    Here is the error:

    j2_logform: failed in Stat(1)
    mkfs: 0506-239 Cannot format log
    And the system information is:

    System: IBM p595 running VIO
    San: EMC DMX
    OS: AIX 5.3

    Any help appreciated

    Yes I did,

    the error that I get is this:

    j2_logform: failed in Stat

    that is from issuing a standard command like

    logform /dev/<logdevicename>

    crfs -v jfs2 -d <name_of_jfs_LV> -m /<mountpoint> -a logname=INLINE -A yes
    <snip>
    which creates a JFS2 Filesystem with Inlinelog and automatic mount a System Restart.

    Is your LV created for an JFS-Filesystem or JFS2?

    Make sure that your logical volume is a jfs2 volume. The default is jfs so you actually have to select jfs2 in the "Logical volume TYPE" field during lv creation.
