Hi Greta,
I can do even better and the best news is that this functionality already exists!
If you have access to manage your account styles you can set up a variance rule. This will let you set a rule where if there is a variance of x compared with a variety of timeframes. such as
- last n months
- same period last year
- historic average
- previous period average.
When the defined threshold [x] is met you can trigger an alert of a specified priority (high medium or low). This triggers an alert (Account data alert) that can be managed via Issues available under Monitor. The deviation commentary can be managed in the workflow within the Issue.
You can find more detail on the Account style rules here Account style rules - IBM Documentation

Subject: Envizi ideas
Would it be possible to
1. flag when data is +/-10% deviation compare with same quarter or month previous year?
2. add comments to explain any reasoning for those deviations?
Many thanks,
Greta
