  • 1.  Encryption of server data on Cloud

    Posted Thu January 27, 2022 04:23 AM

    Hi,

I would like to know if the TM1 data can be encrypted on Cloud? I was under the impression that it is possible using PGP software (TM1Crypt may not be an option for Cloud), however I have come across a technote(see links below) that seem to suggest that while its not supported, it can be provided in cloud offering, so need a bit of an explanation on what it means and how do we get that in cloud offering.

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/planning-analytics/2.0.0?topic=security-tm1-server-data-encryption

Also, my understanding is that the data movement is always encrypted on cloud. Please advise.

    Thanks.

the question is why do you need to encrypt TM1 data in cloud, while all object that stored in IBM cloud and other cloud data storage (in general) has been encrypted?

If you encrypt tm1 data, meaning you have to decrypt it every time you need to read/browse the data

Planning analytics on cloud and distributed TM1 servers do not support TM1 server data encryption. Using a zero knowledge service or encrypting your files before uploading them are the 2 ways to encrypt data on cloud service.
