Currently, when working with calculated metrics, Apptio BI requires the creation of new business metrics to derive these calculations. This process becomes problematic as we are already at the maximum limit for business metrics within our organization.

Current Limitation:

The inability to directly use calculated metrics without the creation of additional business metrics restricts our analytical capabilities and hinders efficient data processing. The workaround provided, which involves creating multiple business metrics, is not a viable solution as it leads to exceeding the resource limits set by Apptio.

Proposed Solution:

We propose an enhancement that allows users to create calculated metrics with the ability to apply specific filters. This would enable more flexible and efficient data analysis, reducing the need to create multiple business metrics.

Use Case:

For instance, we needed to divide the costs over time of one item description by another item description within the same GCP service. The current limitation forced us to create two separate business metrics for each item description. If we could apply filters on item descriptions when creating a calculated metric, we would not need to create these additional business metrics.
