EDIFACT EAN Qualifier

  • 1.  EDIFACT EAN Qualifier

    Posted Tue February 15, 2005 05:13 PM

    hi all,

i have a problem with the sender/receiver recognition in TN.
i send an edifact file (invoic) to tn, which has the following identifier for sender/receiver recognition:
    'UNB+UNOC:3+XXXXXXXXXXXXX:14+XXXXXXXXXXXXXX:14…

i found out that 14 stands for EAN…
but when i add an external EAN ID Type, the recognition does not work…

i tried it also with 31 (DIN) and it worked fine…

    is it a bug?

many many thanks for your help
    alex

    Alex,

I believe 14 stands for DUNS Plus Suffix (ExternalID)…not for EAN Qualifier.

    Sorry if i am wrong,

    HTH,
    RMG.

    Ram,

A qualifier value of 14 is Duns plus suffix in X12, but it is EAN for EDIFACT.

    Regards,

A really good way to see the difference between X12 and EDIFACT is to use a tool like SpecBuilder from EDIFECS. There are others…
