  • 1.  Downloads fail to start

    Posted Tue June 29, 2021 02:58 PM

I'm trying to download from Aspera Faspex Server. Clicking on the link, it says connecting and doesn't start the download.

If I connect to our Sky isp it works but fails on our Virgin ISP.

I've tried the diagnostic tool which doesn't show any errors on either ISP.

Our Virgin Hitron router has minimal firewall settings but is on a fixed IP if that makes any difference.

Here's the diagnostic results from the Connect Tool

SYSTEM Browser: Safari 14.0.1 OS: macOS 10.14.6 Mojave (desktop) DIAGNOSTICS Connect version: 3.11.2.63 Connect status: running Compatible with browser: true Detected extension: true FIREWALL TEST Result: Success Ports: TCP 33001/UDP 33001

    Many Thanks

    Ben

    Hi Michael

    Thanks for your quick reply!

Yes I tried the transfer test, both UDP and TCP port tests are successful.

    Thanks

    Hi Machael

The download started and stopped almost immediately.

    I've got 1.4kb of it...

    Thanks

    Ben

My guess is that for the ISP that is failing, they have some kind of UDP rate control that is stopping the transfer. I would contact the ISP that you're having issues with. They probably allow a small amount of UDP packets through, but once a significant amount of traffic starts flowing they either stop the flow, or very tightly control it.
