Downgrading WAS ND to Base
--------------------------------
Good morning.
I'm very new to WAS Administration and have just inherited numerous systems running a combination of WAS 6.1 ND and Base. I was asked whether it's possible to down-grade a WAS 6.1 ND app server to a 6.1 Base app server without uninstalling the WAS altogehter. If someone can point me to a resource, I'd be very grateful.
I suspect this sounds like an odd request, so here's a bit of background...
An application was deployed to a WAS 6.1 ND server in it's own cluster with a single application server. ND was hosting another application in a sepperate cluster as well, both on the same node. The intent was to deploy this server as a replacement for two (2) production servers .
Unfortunately, a late requirement came out that ultimately required us to deploy one of the applications to it's own physical server. Now I have an ND system running a single application server on a single node in a cluster.
The remaining application on this server has been fully tested and the configuration has been approved. In order to reduce the overall cost of the project, the team would like to run the application on a Base 6.1 WAS install (the cost of ND licensing is significantly more than Base and this cost now must be absorbed by a single team.)
Understanding that they have fully tested and signed off on their application on this server, and would like a minimal delay, I was wondering if there was a way to downgrade ND to Base and if so, what (if any) risk is there in doing so.
