    If you where not "fiddling with the cables" at the time then this is a real concern.

    Start a AIX Support PMR immediately.
    They can analyse the Problem Data to find out more.

    I would not continue to trust the machine until diags are run or you understand the fault more.

    We have had a similiar error on an LPAR, and were advised to increase the CPU on the VIOS.

    At the moment each VIOS has physical 1.0 CPU with 4 Virtual CPUs and a weight of 255 for those (uncapped mode on). We were advised to increase the physical CPU to 2. 

    There are 20 LPARs on the system - each totally virtualised (NPIV + virtual ethernet).

    It seems very strange to me to increase the resources of the VIOS - which generally does not use anything like 4 CPU. and surely it would be more important to increase the virtual CPU than the physical - or is it the case that the particular demands of the VIOS mean that we need to allocate physical CPUs to it - that somehow virtual CPUs will not do. 

    Can you advise me? Unfortunately I do not have the performance statistics that cover the exact moment the problem was logged in the errpt, but generally the VIOS does not use anything like its entitled capacity.
