You are not running AIX or on POWER based hardware!

You should use define you monitor as a default screen with higher resolution then set the adapter resolution higher and then logout and back in.
At least you will be looking at something nicer while you sort out your nvidia drivers for fast £D support and Red Hat.

The maximum you can get to with this screen is 2048 x 1536, if your adapter supports this.

The display is the least of your problems.
