    We need to disable  Exceldata and XML in Run options for all the users , Could you please let me know the Process

    Hello Srinivasulu,

    1. Navigate to the Manage menu. From the Cognos Analytics home page, click the Manage icon (the three-line or hamburger menu).
    2. Open the security section. In the Manage menu, go to People > Capabilities. This page lists all the secured functions and features.
    3. Locate the report format capabilities. Scroll down or use the search bar to find the following capabilities, which control the output formats:
      • Excel "Generate XLS Output".
      • XML "Generate XML Output" .
    4. Edit permissions for each capability. For both Excel (Generate XLS Output) and XML (Generate XML Output) , follow these steps:
      • Click on the capability's name or the more (...) icon next to it and select Set properties.
      • Go to the Permissions tab.
      • Add or remove groups and roles as needed to configure access.

    Thanks for Prompt Response

    We dont have any option to disable only Exceldata in capabilities and we can disable Excel and Exceldata both, but we need to disable only Excel data

    I am running Cognos Analytics 12.0.4 and I was able to see it under Reporting and Classic view. Thank you Patrick!

    Hi Naidu,

    You need to do the following (tested in v12.1.0)

    From Manage, click on People then Accounts.

    Click on the Cognos namespace.

    From a role (this is not working with a group) that you will use to apply this modification, click on Actions menu then choose Properties.

    Click on the Customization tab then Edit for Features: 

    In the search area, type "Excel Data" without the quotes:

    Clear both Excel data check boxes:

    Click Select to save this update.

    Click Save again.

    To test, ask one user belonging to the role you've modified to logoff and logon, and it should be working.

    Hi I'd love to hear about the solution to this if there is one. Some of our newer users struggle to export their data runs with all the different options so it would be great to have that functionality to disable certain run types from ever showing up!
