When I try to do this with smitty or the mkdvd command I get an error that /mkcd/cd_fs needs a little more than 3GB of space. The command df -g /mkcd/cd_fs shows that it has 1 GB free. I did the command chfs -a size=+4G /mkcd/cd_fs and received a message stating that it completed successfully. When I tried creating the dvd again I got the same message /mkcd/cd_fs needs 3GB more space. I looked at df -g again and it still showed as 1 GB free. What am I doing wrong?

Have you definitely mounted the filesystem? (mount /mkcd/cd_fs)
It also looks to be about 22GB now. How many times have you run the "chfs -a size=+4G /mkcd/cd_fs" command?

If you need to (to save space in rootvg for other purposes) reduce the size of the new filesystem from 22GB to, say 5GB:
    chfs -a size=5G /mkcd/cd_fs
    (Note NOT +5G)

    Now mount the filesystem
    mount /mkcd/cd_fs

    And check with
    df -g /mkcd/cd_fs

It should now show as 5GB, and be big enough for your dvd ISO.

You can either remove it and create again at the correct size, or work with it at 22GB, and as it is for temporary use only, delete it when you've got your ISO off.

Decide which, and then go to the mount command...
