Detection of IIDR source and target databases in ILMT

  • 1.  Detection of IIDR source and target databases in ILMT

    Hi

We are trying to get IIDR source and target servers to report in ILMT.

According to the LI document for IIDR:

" Instead of the entitlements required for the Program directly, Licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this Program sufficient to cover the processor cores for the systems on which the resources managed or processed by the Program reside. "

We have the BigFix agent installed on the source and target servers, but no software is being detected because these are not the application servers.

However, according to the LI doc, we need to count PVUs on those servers.

How can we get these to report software and PVUs in ILMT? By simply copying the swidtag files to them? Is this the suggested method in a scenario like this?

    Thanks,

    Dewald

    Hello,

If you notice a situation when expected PVU software is not discovered, then you need to follow the instructions from:

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=support-troubleshooting-software-discovery

Note e.g. you need to verify if the PVU-based elements are really in the system analyzed and if their signature files are present, so ILMT can find them. If the software elements are not there or their crucial portions (like signatures) are missing, then you need to contact support of such a problematic product (here IIDR) to troubleshoot such a situation. They need to verify your setup and check why the licensed elements are not there where they are expected to be.

Manually copying SWITAG files is certainly _NOT_ an expected and recommended action.

    Best regards,
