  • 1.  Definition native XML database

    Posted Wed March 23, 2005 10:06 AM

I’m writing my masterthesis about native XML and XML enabled databases. What is Software Ag’s (Tamino’s) definition of a native XML database ? (Preferably without buzz-words.)

    Thanks

I am writing a study about Tamino and the answer about the Software AG’s definition of “native XML” would interest me too in order to understand how it works internally and to be able to really tune the database.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Since i couldn’t find a closing definition in the Tamino documentation. This is my best guess:

A native XML server is a XML server that supports XML deep down in it’s core services. The XML document is stored in it’s native (natural) format without being transformed.

Please correct me if i’m wrong or incomplete.

“XML stored in it’s native format”:
binary, text or tree of objects ? With or without hierarchy in storage ?
