  • 1.  Db2 Lite Connection Issue

    Posted Fri September 13, 2024 12:58 PM

    Hey All,

I really need someone's insight here.

I am new to technology, like from another industry new. I'm part of a team on a project and have been tasked with a basic POC API for our architecture. We're using Kubernetes, Db2 Lite, via IBM's Cloud platform. I use the CLI in the Cloud as my mac/Os has had continual issues with ibm_db_django driver and compatibility issues.

I've been able to create, push, and test a Flask API via Kubernetes, but have been failing for several weeks now trying to get Db2 to communicate with Kubernetes. The dockerfile does include an SSL crt file, but I am unsure if this is needed as I am also unsure related to Driver necessity when running commands from within the Cloud CLI in the IBM platform/architecture.

I have downloaded and read the manuals for Db2 Lite and Kubernetes. There is much that is over my head, but I'm learning a crap-ton at a quick clip, too (I struggled with a DNS issue within Kubernetes for like ... 1.5 wks ... ).

At any rate, what am I missing to get our Db2 database (it does have 5 tables with some sample data therein) to communicate properly with our Kubernetes? There are no logs being produced when I push the container and run Kubernetes (shows all is good, but it never creates any logs related to attempted Db2 connecting (even though there is code in the Dockerfile to generate such logs so I could figure out what I'm doing wrong), soooooo it doesn't even attempt to connect?

I suspect my ignorance is to blame, but any pointers related to configurations/settings that I likely have missed would be of great value. I'd like a win on this one -- it's been a pretty big helping of failure.

    Thanks, to any and all,

    Greg
