  • 1.  Date Partition for Other Languages

    Posted 09/03/18 10:33 AM

    Hi all,

    Mainly of our data in Apptio is in english but we are receiving data from Italy and the date format is in italian (e.g. gen-18 for jan-18) and therefore Apptio doesn't do the Date Partition. Is it possible for Apptio to detect a different language for a single file, or is it any form to fix this issue within Apptio?

    We're using R12.

    For February, March and April Apptio accepts it because the spelling of the first three letters are the same in english, but if it wasn't we would have to fix it also.

    Thank you in advance.

    Caio

    Caio,

    In regards to the date partition and the potential for multiple languages, in the Project Settings you have the Locale settings, but since the column you are leveraging contains both English and Italian I'd potentially suggest a mapping file to sync the column into one standard format vs. the mismatch.

    Cheers,

    Ryan

    Hi Caio,

    Two options I can think off;

    (1) as Ryan states above a conversion table from Italian to English to lookup the three letter acronym, advantage is you only have to do this once and it should work indefinitely so long as the format remains the same.

    (2) the report that you are showing above appears to be a CSV or Excel? If so can you simply change the date format in Excel prior to upload? I think I would prefer this solution because then you could select the date format for the column at the time of upload and any errors will come out a the time of loading the data whereas if something goes wrong with conversion table solution the error may not be as obvious.

    Hope this helps
