I am trying to use the split file function on SPSS to organize my output my gender. However, every time I use split file, it makes all of the data completely disappear. Have I entered something wrong that is causing this to happen?

What do you see after running SPLIT FILES in the Data Editor? And what happens if you run a procedure?

I have no issues with running a procedure, but only when trying to execute a split file function. After running split file, all of my data just vanishes. I have to close out the SPSS file without saving to get it all back again.

My data also seems to disappear when I choose to sort cases as well.
