The first volume of the Second Edition of the DataPower Handbook is now available for sale on Amazon CreateSpace (www.createspace.com/4745597) and Amazon outlets around the world, and should be on Kindle sometime today. This volume contains updated chapters 1 & 2 (Intro and Setup) as well as a new Preface and all of the old appendices (which are updated) and a few valuable new appendices. It is all updated to be up to date for just announced 9006 hardware and v7.1 firmware. Those were announced today at www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/ShowDoc.wss?do.... We had six years of updates to cover since the first edition was published!

The hardcopy version is obviously much smaller/lighter/portable and less expensve than the previous large singular heavy tome, and that's a good thing. We updated it to include some very valuable performance information (9004 vs 9005 vs virtual). It also enhances the setup section to include valuable tips and instructions for setting up virtual (the performance section will provide some good genera guidance for virtual as well), and everything else has been updated from the first edition.

We self-published this so that we have more control, and will no longer have to beg a publisher to allow us to put a new version out or update content. Publishing in a series of volumes allows readers to pick and choose what volumes are appropriate to them (developers, admins, architects, etc). We're already working to get the next volumes to you.
