In the latest release of PAW, 2.0.95

When saving a book, we always get a bit of an annoying warning. I have no idea what this means.
How can I stop this from appearing?

Some dashboard widgets are outside of the canvas. Features that use these widgets, such as PDF output, might not work correctly

Also, I am still missing the edit option when working from apps. This should be available for admins and modelers.

I was hopeful, that this option would be back in this release. Now,I always have to go through the folder system and reopen the same book from there if I want to edit something. Are there some settings to adjust for this?

    Thanks, Asgeir

I also want to mention that when saving processes, the message temporarily covers the run button.

You will have to close the message before you can run the process. Is this deliberately so?

I agree with and your comments and have been finding them a little frustrating too.

My understanding is that the "outside the canvas" message is an error/something that is not intended/required and will be fixed in a future release?

As for the successful process save message, I totally agree - there are plenty of times you want to save and then test the process, whilst you can either wait for the message to disappear or close it, it would be better if it didn't pop up over the Run button so you can hit it straight away - a small annoyance, but would be a welcome change.

Yes, we should fix the 'toast' notification to not cover the run button.  I agree that it's annoying.

    Hi Asgeir,

I will look into the PDF output warning message. I think there should be a way to disable or prevent this message from occuring.

We were not planning to bring back the edit button in Plans and Applications.  The Plans and Applications are inteded to be a book interaction experiance, not support book authoring.  However, we are thinking about a feature that will let Plan\Application co-owners quickly drill to the books outside of the Plan or Application.  We would even like the option to create new books from the Plan\Application overview page.

    Thank you @STUART KING

Please, reconsider the edit option of books in apps, if at least there would be a setting in the application for this.

I would like to have the edit option back as before, but only for admins and modelers, or co-owners as you mentioned. Going to another view for editing just slows down the editing process because usually, you want to go through most of the books in one application for some maintenance.

We use the applications just as a menu system and not for business or periodical processing.

Those are the applications currently available in our system.

For clarity, I want to have just a few applications and use the application sections as a sub-menu system for more detailed purposes, divisions, etc.

The users get used to the tiles and applications and learn how to access the books through this system.

One problem is that the tiles (applications) by default reorder every time, showing the last edited app first. This confuses users. The order of the application tiles should be static, or just alphabetic order. The same goes for books and other objects in folders, servers in the admin view, and so on. Humans are better oriented in static views and alphabetic order is usually not wrong.

As I have mentioned before, the full-screen approach when editing sets from books is not work-ergonomic, especially if you think of big screens and mouse movement efficiency. It was much better some versions ago.

Despite my complaints, there are some nice enhancements in the latest release.

    • In the rules and process editors, I can now use the touchpad for scrolling (two fingers, ...huge advantage for me)
    • The error handling is better in the rules editor.
    • The widget tree view is very useful.
    • ...and more

    cheers, Asgeir
