  • 1.  Cyber Security Issues. Will it be a thing forever?

    Does anyone think cyber security issues will be a thing forever?

    Will advancements in security and protection systems eventually trump the everyday cyber criminal? Could these issues be resolved by removing public access to the internet and restricting users to there own subnets to retain some kind of public order?

    Could we make public internet users required to have some kind of registration or license to access the internet bound by there registered internet digital identities governed by a new core routing system.

    Could government force policy onto ISPs for each user to have a registered digital ID to access their infrastructure rather than anyone in a home or a library being able to access any computer they wish anytime. Could this actually be enforced from a technical perspective.

    Should we/could we put a stop to free public access Wifi points. Or could we make free public wifi access point providers liable for damages/attacks launched from their networks?

    I agree the suggestions sound out there and totally outrageous My point is just how far do we need to go to stop the billions of dollars lost every year globally and the financial loss to both individuals and organisations.

    Interesting question. 

     

    In my opinion, there will always be cyber security issues.  Hackers and "bad actors" will always find a way to cause harm, especially if they can profit from it. 

    I don't see people agreeing to registering for internet access, for fear (whether or not warranted) of being put on a tighter and tighter leash by the government. 

    Many people only have access to the internet via a library or public internet café, so you can't remove those places from having access. 

     

    In short, I think it I just something we have to live with, and hope the brains behind security can stay 1 step ahead of the hackers. 

    There is danger in freedom, but also danger in being too restrictive.
