    Team,

When can we expect the Custom rollup to go live? It was mentioned in the ideas portal that it would be available in 2nd half of 2023. This is a much requested feature from our users and we have been communicating to them that it would available in 2h 2023.

    Ideas portal link: https://ibm-data-and-ai.ideas.ibm.com/ideas/PAOP-I-323

    Thanks,

    Chatur.

    Hi Chaturvedi,

You can already define custom rollups in the Planning Analytics Workspace cube viewer.  This can be done by selecting one or more members on the row or column axis and using the calculation options.  We also have a Subset calculation (see the screenshot below) feature that allows user to create consolidations (aggregates, averages, sums, etc) based on the members of a public or private subset.  We are expanding this feature to also support unnamed sets and MDX expressions that any user can generate through the set editor.

This feature can be used on any axis of the cube viewer, including the context axis.  The nice thing about this feature is that the consolidation a user creates can be shared with other users.

We are going to rename the 'Subset calculation options' menu item to 'Set consolidations' in an upcoming release.  We also have a major feature planned for Q1 2024 that will allow Workspace users to create aggregates in a slightly more dynamic and interactive way (using the updated selector widgets).

    Hi Chaturvedi,

    Hi Stuart,

Thanks for theses informations and suggestions

But we still can't manually enter data (spreading)  in the cells of this custom rollup.

As said Chaturvedi, This is a much requested feature from our users......

My customers' users are always frustrated to see all the things they can't do with PAFE (that they could do with perspective).
Given the installed base of TM1 applications, it's hard to get them to believe that switching to PA is a chance for them to move on to something better.
    - data spreading with all kind of report
    - sandbox with all kind of report
    - SubsetName as a coordinate of a dbr or dbrw function
    - report printing by generating multiples files

Perhaps, for new customers it is good, but for old customers .......

    Kindly and best regards,

    Philippe

    Hi Stuart,

As others mentioned current functionality in architect/tm1web to create custom rollups from selected members or subset is heavily used by our users. This functionality used not just for analysis purposes but also for data entry/ spreading purposes. In some of our clients we cannot fully migrate to PAW just because of this reason. Is there a plan to support this (spreading) functionality in near future?

    Hello All,

We're also looking for the data spreading on custom rollups in PAW. Have there been any updates on this functionality?

    Hi Almond,

We are still planning on an enhancement to TM1 database to allows spreading from MDX aggregates.  There is no signifigant update to provide time.  However, I can confirm this is still on our roadmap.

Same request from our clients. This functionality was widely used in Perspectives, and is now missing. If you could provide an ETA, that would be helpful in advising out clients.

While spreading is good for some and for Modellers our userbase has a real issue with Spreading from consolidations in Cubeviewer. As its Auto on when you install, we frequently lose data, as people are used to using perspectives that would not let you delete from

A consolidated node without first warning you (Cube viewer does not).

I' ve raised it multiple times to remove this from Cubeviewer or to add the same safeguards you have in Exploration but its never made it on to IBM's road map.

    Kind regards

    Phil

    Hi Phil,

Are you talking about the cube viewer that is opened from Planning Analytics for Excel?  I agree that we should have a way to disable the default type-in spread behaviour for the cube viewer when opened from Planning Analytics for Excel.  We can look into a default setting for the exploration widget in Workspace books as well.

    Hi Stuart,

Yes I am. I have now worked for 2 companies who effectively use it as a replacement for Perspectives, but it does not mirror the behaviours of perspectives in this respect. Therefore, there is a real risk that data can be accidentally deleted when creating a view in Viewer if you accidentally press delete, as it spreads over the view you have open at the time. Thisis not like Exploration or other reports where you have to then Commit that change. Perspectives used to ask you if you wanted to take that action.

    Kind regards

    Phil

    Hi Dave,

The ability to create a user defined calculation (include aggregates) exists on the cube viewer.  Our current roadmap includes enhancements to the calculation capabilities on the cube viewer.  We are working towards supporting custom expressions being used to define any calculation that could be translated into MDX.  Calculations from the cube viewer can be asymmetric and use members from multiple dimensions.  There is no planned roadmap work to also implement new calculations in the set editor.

Spreading from MDX aggregate calculations remains on our roadmap.
