How to create custom component that is reusable in other porlets. This way whenever we need to create new portlets and doing the same things over and over

In Designer of 8.0 you get options for creating such reusable components through Snippets, where in you can select a groups of components on a view make a snippet out of it that can be used in other views.

Please find attached document on how to achieve this in 8.0 designers.

But prior to 8.0 ways I can think of is using
