  • 1.  Creating AIX VPS in IBM cloud

    Posted 11 days ago

    'afternoon,

I'm trying to setup a VPS in IBM's cloud but every time I click Finish, I get the error "Network name required" and I have to start over.

I cannot see anywhere that I can enter this and at no point does it tell me to either.

    What am I missing?

    Regards,

    Henrik Morsing

    Hi Henrik,

Is this IBM Power Virtual Server (PowerVS)?

If you can post a screenshot of the "Network interfaces" panel during the instance creation, along with the IBM Cloud region you're deploying into, it may make it easier to pinpoint what's missing.

For reference, I've attached an example of the "Network interfaces" panel when creating a new VM with no private network configured, but with the public network enabled (which isn't the default. You must have at least one public or private network). Does yours look different from this?

    Regards,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Yes, that's exactly what it looks like when I choose "Public". Where do I type in the network name?

I then tried setting up a private network, still no-where to type in a name.

    Regards,

    Henrik Morsing

P.S. I tried to deploy to Dallas.

    Fixed...

It was because I hadn't created an SSH key. What a strange error for that.
